Ask Alex about...? The current political areana in Australia, it  engenders not only a politial agenda but also an alarming revelance to the state of the planet. If all is good.... then why is more than 50% of programs and media representing an urgent action to reducing energy and life style. One wonders if the the giant has awoken!

About the Trek

On 26 May, 2007, two Renewable Energy teachers will set out across the desert from the east coast to the west coast in a diesel 4WD, towing a camp trailer and  using vegetable oil for fuel. The journey will take them from Noosa in Queensland, through the Northern Territory to Broome in Western Australia. They will present an information session on Renewable Energy to schools along the way in exchange for vegetable oil. http://www.energy-wise.net/deserttrek/index.htm for more details.

Ask Alex about...? What alternatives are there???

With climate change very much in the media at present. One has to consider, well what is our future. What is the future of; energy, transport, agriculture, me.

There is research happening all around the globe. With development in; wind , solar , thermal, hydro, wave, just ot name a few. I am hoping this forum will give us the opportunity to expore a number of different, unique or possibly answers to the question of; if we dont use coal, gas and oil what are the alternatives.

Cheers

Chris

Ask Alex about...? Nuclear...

It is clearly evident that to move forward into a science with such extreme environmental responsibilities would not only be irresponsible but also open our fragile earth to massive long-term degradation. In the face of the greenhouse problem, if mankind has not realised the long term repercussion of past decisions made on greed and wants, the planet earth is no doubt going to slowly perish, leaving behind, for our future generations a legacy that may be too late to rectify. Granted, nuclear power generation does not have the same effect on the greenhouse problem as coal and oil. But given the alternative technologies that are available to us, our understanding of mass consumption, the passive approaches to energy reduction and a desire to built long term solutions for this planet, our home, it is clear that Nuclear Policy should not be considered whether to reduce greenhouse gases or not.

Be energy-wise

Hi
Energy-wise is about looking at ways of developing a sustainable future and accepting our responsibility as custodian of the planet on which we live. Sharing ideas, experiences and dreams is one avenue through which we can support each other. Ask alex is not about one person having all the answers but more a forum where someone or collectively problems can be solved and ideas explored. I lookforward to being apart of this
