You sat so still I did not notice as I scanned the waterways Looking for photos to turn into songs is an important part of my days. You did not flicker you did not flinch I could have easily moved on But as my camera scanned the patchy mossed rock Your shape was erect and seemed “latched on" That’s when I saw you I wonder why lizards sit up so straight and strong Not to be unearthed or unerved I wanted to get closer and began to sneak forward for a while there you stayed and did not move |
But as I approached with a sneaking stealthy gait You eventually turned your knowing head You began to sidestep just slightly and then inched a little bit more No matter how softly I tread I snapped and snapped Knowing that at any sec you would begin to dart and weave So I got as close as I could and then SPARK you up and took your leave. |
You seem trapped within your own head
It turns your heart to stone
Are you locked in there?

I feel like I need to carve
and chip away
to find your form
If every spiral I carve away
was the foray
that traveled within
If every thought you tracked as a witness
Less of your reactions would be just a whim
YOUR CRITIC SHREIKS!
IT SQUEALS AND SQUEAKS
The chatter.
clatters and drills
Now drilling is fine
If you want to carve and mine
and find a pathway within
Spiral In
Spiral Out
TOUCH THE WORLD
I LOVE YOU
This is true
You ask how I know?
Well if the definition of love is
"Accepting love of other
AS OTHER"
Then I am content to let you
BE
What I have learned is to live in the NOW
To accept where we are at this minute
I don’t accept the task to
Rescue
or to
Teach
And as we come to a place that is finite
I have moved to a space
Been there many a year
Where I have looked at my patterns
and follies
I can tell what is real
What contrives just to steal
I can face my fears
But know when to retreat to complication
I wish you well
Although I sense you’re in hell
And I wonder can you get yourself out of it?
It takes quite some time
and energy and love
to be able to drop all of this
So what to do?
You go on your way
Pay the price you must pay
For a confused and restricted imagining
but
if you break free
come back I might be
still open for love and companioning
If not
who knows
a relationship might grow
that is different in nature and texture
Why think past today
No
I will just say Au Revour
Let’s not dwell
in conjecture

Believe it or not this is not always the stage that is the easiest for the true artist. OSHO talks a lot about Post Partum Depression. Similar to when a woman has a child the artist often finds that the have fallen "in love" with the creative project and it has become her baby. So once it has finished all of that devotion needs to be transferred or the artist needs to find a way to wind down and bask rather than feel as though something is missing.
At this stage sometimes artists use drugs to try to regain a sense of normalacy. So long as the artist or student knows and is aware of the liklihood of this feeling - they can pass through it safely.
"I have taken this idea in my latest article about Creative Arts Education Landscape Of Commitment and talked about how to deal with kids who want to get out of their commitments." and tried to illustrate the concept. Previous posts Hopeful Realism
Informed Pessimism

The slumber and self talk has rearranged and synthesised the new information into a managable and palatable scenario. As the comfortable expectations settle on a realistic appraisal the commitment changes to an active doing phase.
If the project is mapped out or the relationship has been renewed through clear boundary setting and a clear set of actions and expectations...... Industry begins.
This is the stage where by the project, relationship or situation moves into a state of engagement and flow.
Engagement is a time when a particpant is so "into the activity" that she can forget about time. There is no negative (or minimal) self talk. Rather just an involvement in activity that is productive and satisfying. It is wise to keep checking at this stage of the project or relationship so that things don't drift off track
Keep gauaging focus and adjust accordingly. This is a great place to be.

Ahhhh! A settled contented sigh. After an initial reaction of restless, irritable and discontented dissappointment comes the realisation that with a little hard work and a touch of loving acceptance things might work out after all.
Whew! Tantrums are over.
Plans are now being made.
Preparations include cleaning, thinking and dusting off left sections of projects or things untalked about.
Negotiations begin and the time table comes out as aready reference tool.
Oh allright! Let's give this a go!
Not time for full steam a head yet though.Oh no oh no oh no!
At this stage there is a little slumber like self talk that rearranges and synthesises the new information into a managable and palatable scenario.
Comfortable expectation that includes a realistic appraisal and a beginning commitment to a new changed but pleasantly expectant scenery.
Tomorrow is the time for Informed Optimism!
I am looking a little more closely at the 5 Phases of Committment.
The first as you know is called Uninformed Optimism. (Colouring Page)
This phase is best described as the honey moon period. The second below

is called informed pessimism. (Colouring Page.)
This phase is best described as "after the honey moon." When two people meet and "fall in love" their opinion of each other is often coloured by rose glasses. In recovery terms this is often referred to as making a person your "higher power." What happens in the pessimism stage is that having placed someone on such a high pedestal the drop from superman to human is seen as too great and so dissappointment is exgagerated and amplified. This can happen in situations whereby the student has placed the teacher up there as Guru or placed their self esteem hopes on being the best artist or best sports person. Anything viewed unrealistically can have this effect.
It is a stage of reappraisal, of being more sobre when weighing up the pros and cons of the relationship or situation. Having had such high expectations of another or a situation has led to troubles. But recovery from dissapointment can be a fruitful learning curve if handled carefully. This is why a long honey moon phases is a good one. People who are in recovery often try to mantain their focus on their programme, their relationshiop with their own higher power and maintain lots of other interests so that they don't become overly obssessed with just the one person or situation as their source of love and esteem.
These Phases of Commitment can be present in any place where people need to make a commitment. Realistic appraisal of the situation before jumping in boots and all is always essential.
I teach about it all way back in Prep school when kids are learning about such things as relationships and how to get along well at school. If kids grow up with the right idea about how life works - I hope they won't hit such snags later on in life. You can read the entire article here.
We are nearly home
You and I
After all these years
Pealing away the layers
Even through the bitter tears

As I approach things
more slowly now
because I understand
Quietly
Soberly
I know how to
hold out

I have been trying to work out to start up a comic online.
It is quite hard to do if you want to join in with others. I can't make up my mind whether I want to publish one from my own site and then link in with others later.
Whilst I was researching this I found this guy and think his Blog is quite worthwhile.
http://designmeme.blogspot.com/2005/05/why-publish-web-comic.html
I eventually found this site http://www.webcomicsnation.com/
and think I might give that a go.
Do others know of great comic sites that I can look at?
