Stephen Doyle and Mal MichaelSydney has moved one more step closer to an all important top-four finish a week out from the AFL finals following a 57-point victory over Brisbane at Telstra Stadium on Saturday night.

The Swans 14.13 (97) to 6.4 (40) win moved them back inside the top four although Fremantle has a chance to dislodge Sydney with a win over West Coast in its round 21 fixture on Sunday. But the Swans did what they had to and will now concentrate on beating Carlton next week in an attempt to shore up a double chance.

Hawthorn has continued in its bid to finish off the 2006 season strongly with a 22-point win over the Kangaroos in front of its adopted Tasmanian fans at Aurora Stadium.

On the same day that club president Jeff Kennett and Tasmanian Premier Paul Lennon admitted a deal regarding the Hawks' proposed expanded push into the state was close to finalisation, the Hawks ground out a frustratingly low-scoring win for their Launceston supporters, 7.16 (58) to 4.12 (36).While the game was basically an arm-wrestle for the first three terms with neither side able to stamp its authority, the Hawks kicked away slightly in the fourth with the Kangaroos' inability to find the goals continuing to plague them.
