"Deadly Earnest" & "Aweful Movies"
- Posted at 1:35 AM on 19/7/2006 by JBG -I was 1st introduced to "Deadly Earnest",alias Ian Bannerman who Hosted "O-TEN" Networks:"Aweful Movies",in the late 1960's(Friday nites at 10.30pm)at their Artarmon Studios,by my cousin,a Sydney Tech Uni Student("DE" was very popular with that "Hip Set"!)I'd set the old Sofa Chair, right in front of the B&W Tv,with the "Poof" to rest My feet upon, beside me,a Wooden bowl filled with:"Lolly-Cobble Bliss Bombs" & settled down to watch,as "Deadly" & another UnderTaker/Ghoul would run around & inside the Ch 10 Studios with a large hexagonal Coffin to the stirring, eerie Instrumental that played.. "Valley of Gwangi","The Body Snatchers",to name, but a few of the great B-Grade Sci-Fi & Horror Classics, that "DE" showed.I frequented:"Ces Cook's Magic Shop",in the Imperial Arcade,Sydney & begged My Mum,to take Me to eat,at one of the:"East India Curry" Restaurants, that DE would nightly advertise...Paddo,was one Restaurant location,Balmain, the other? I even had the "Rave in Peace" LP,that "DE" came out with, with such classics as:"Sunnyside up Crematorium Blues",that had some limited Airplay on Sudney AM Radio... I've advertised in several Newspapers, etc regarding ANY Info at all,on Sydney's "Deadly Earnest",over the years, with some success... ANYone out there, with any Info about Ian Bannerman,John Brindle or anyone who would of worked with "Deadly earnest" at the then O-Ten Artarmon Studios, please feel free to contact Me!
